Pictured above: A very pretty home in Mount Dora, Florida. We are celebrating one more milestone this week - you are now one of 25,050 subscribers to this newsletter! Beauty is a matter of personal taste, of course, but our vote for prettiest town in Florida goes to Mount Dora. We rolled through here last winter and were pleased to find the town was even nicer than its advance billing. Mount Dora, one of the highest points in Florida, is built around huge Lake Dora. It also has history, shopping, art, and community resources.
Not quite sure why it took us so long to write a review of Tempe, home of the ASU Sun Devils. Tempe has the exciting atmosphere of a college town with cool restaurants and interesting neighborhoods. Plus the allure of the neighboring desert and Superstition Mountains. Thanks to Tom, a member and resident, for suggesting and contributing to the review! Click on a state to see reviews of 862 great retirement towns, plus capsule summaries of 1,805 active adult communities. Wow, we are very pleased - so far there have been 467 responses to last week's retirement poll. The results are quite surprising. Assuming that the people who took the poll are representative of Topretirements members - we are not your typical retirees! More of us are moving out of state, confident about our finances, and interested in the Southeast than just about any other poll we've seen. In coming weeks we will poll on other questions.
This city of on Florida's west coast has several cool things going for it. For one, the Village Art Center is a unique approach that encourages artists to live and work downtown. For another, it is the spring training home of the Pittsburgh Pirates (go Bucs!). Being between Tampa and Sarasota doesn't hurt either.
